Center for Integrative Medicine

About Us

As part of Greenwich Hospital’s long tradition of healing the whole person, the hospital started offering integrative medicine services to hospitalized patients starting in 2001. The response was phenomenal. And because the community wanted an outpatient center focused on wellness, we designed a beautiful facility along the Mianus River in Cos Cob.

We enlisted a feng shui designer to work with the architect in designing the facility and interior spaces, and incorporated numerous eco-friendly initiatives. From the moment you enter our optimal healing environment, you will be surrounded by a sense of harmony and calm.

Our Approach

We strive to keep treatment as natural as possible, while having the expertise and qualifications to recognize when traditional medical intervention is necessary. Our physicians are board-certified in family medicine, internal medicine and holistic medicine. In addition, our practitioners provide a full range of healing therapies to treat acute and chronic health issues.

When conventional medical care is identified as a necessary step for a patient’s improved health, the Center for Integrative Medicine has prompt access to Greenwich Hospital’s full range of diagnostic and treatment services, along with those of the Yale Health System.

Our team of holistic experts works collaboratively to provide a broad range of therapeutic services. Our approach to wellness combines medical and complementary services that are seamlessly united. This is known as Integrative Medicine. We also value the principles of Functional Medicine, which focuses on preventing disease and resolving underlying causes of chronic illness instead of exclusively suppressing symptoms. Functional Medicine is science-based and looks at biochemical individuality and variations in metabolic function as well as the balance of internal and external factors that affect vitality and health.

The Center for Integrative Medicine includes private consultation rooms, examination and treatment rooms and a spacious area for yoga, meditation and numerous classes. We offer specialized evaluation, as needed, for intestinal function, toxin burden, environmental sensitivities, hormone imbalances, postural alignment, constitution, inflammation and neurotransmitter analysis. We also offer a full range of therapeutic services and classes.

What is Integrative Medicine?
Integrative Medicine is a holistic, whole-person approach to healthcare designed to treat the person, not just the disease. The outcome is seen in enhanced wellness and optimized function, even in the face of a chronic illness challenge.

Integrative Medicine combines, or integrates, many modalities including physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, exercise, environment, emotions, attitudes, beliefs, social relationships, spirituality and mind-body interventions such as biofeedback.

While using all of what conventional medicine has to offer, including medications as necessary, the goal is to keep interventions as natural as possible in order to facilitate radiant health for each patient. The following links provide additional information.

Eco-friendly Initiatives

The Center for Integrative Medicine incorporates many elements of "green" architecture, using natural materials and renewable resources, and impacting the environment as gently as possible. Our physical structure reflects the philosophy of holistic care.

Interiors have been designed following the principles of feng shui, the Chinese art of creating harmonious and healing spaces. Bamboo flooring, fumeless carpeting, rice wallpaper and other earth-friendly and health-friendly materials were used in the building process.
